Carol Grant opened her first fashion shop in Oxford in 1979 selling British, Italian and French labels. She soon built up a successful business under the name Designing Woman, realising that it was not just fashion but the thrill of helping women choose garments with care and honesty that made her shop so special. It was in the early years that Carol started designing ballgowns for Oxford students which led to the launch of her inspirational wedding dress collections, subsequently featured in Vogue's Brides Magazine.
Moving to Shrewsbury in 1992, Carol continued designing wedding dresses alongside a growing retail business. Today, Carol no longer designs but takes pride and pleasure in finding new collections, and most importantly drawing on her experience to ensure the designers stocked by Carol Grant remain fresh and exciting.
